ಅನುವಾದ:
ಸಂಜಯನು ಹೇಳಿದ - ರಾಜನೇ, ಪಾಂಡವರ ಸೇನಾವ್ಯೂಹವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ರಾಜಾ ಧುರ್ಯೋಧನನು ತನ್ನ ಗುರುಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಹೀಗೆಂದನು.
ಭಾವಾರ್ಥ:
ರಣರಂಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಯಿತೆಂದು ಕೇಳುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಧೃತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರನ ಉದ್ದೇಶವೇನು ಎಂದು ಸಂಜಯನಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ವಿಷಣ್ಣನಾಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ಬರಿಸಲು ಬಯಸಿದ. ರಾಜನಿಗೆ, ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಿಂದ ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯ ರಾಜಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದ. ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನು ಪಾಂಡವರ ಸೇನಾಬಲವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶವನ್ನು ವಾಸ್ತವವಾಗಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿಕೊಡಲು ಸೈನ್ಯಾಧಿಪತಿ ದ್ರೋಣಾಚಾರ್ಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ. ಆದರೆ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನನ ವ್ಯವಹಾರ ಕೌಶಲಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾಂಡವರ ಸೇನಾವ್ಯೂಹವನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ ಆತನಿಗಾದ ಭಯವನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಡಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.

Sanjaya Said: O King, after looking over the army gathered by the sons of Pandu, King Duryodhana went to his teacher and began to speak the following words:
Purport:
Sanjaya could understand Dhrtarastra's motive in asking about the situation on the battlefield. He wanted, therefore to encourage the despondent King, and thus he warned him that his sons were not going to make any sort of compromise under influence of the holy place. Sanjaya therefore informed the King that his son, Duryodhana, after seeing the military force of the Pandavas, at once went to the commander-in-chief, Dronacharya, to inform him of the real position. But Duryodhana's diplomatic veneer could not disguise the fear he felt when he saw the military arrangement of the Pandavas.
